Weekly Round-Up is where I collect all of my favorite snippets and my personal posts from various web sites like Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter. If you follow me on other sites, this may be redundant.
Feb 10- I emptied my Kindle carousel & then added only the books I want to read this year. Much less clutter. #digitalorganization
Feb 9- My "baby" turned 18 today. Eighteen! It doesn't seem possible.
- People keep asking me if I feel old because C. is 18. I can honestly say that no, I don't. It just makes me wonder how it happened. lol Where did the time go? I don't feel old enough to have an adult child. But- as my brother loves to point out- I married young, so I guess that's why. I'm "only" 39. If I were older- say almost 50 (which Jb. will be when his children-should he ever have them-turn 18) then my answer might be different.
- Hmmm...remember that other Angie that is using my email address? Today is her birthday. What a coincidence.
- My firstborn turned 18 today. It doesn’t seem possible. It seems like just yesterday we brought him home from the hospital…. and now he’s an adult. *sigh* I’m so proud of the young man he’s become, but I also miss the baby boy he used to be. If only we could turn back time- for just a little while.
People ask me “does it make you feel old?” I have to say no. It doesn’t. It just makes me wonder what happened. lol Where did the time go? I don’t feel old enough to have an 18 year old child.
So many feelings tonight.
- Nothing I love more than trying to fix problems with iTunes #thatwassarcasm
- iTunes=the devil
- Finally! It's working and recognizing my iPod, but I HATE the new version. Why oh why did I update?
Feb 6- You know supper was good when they eat every bit and ask you to make the same thing the next night! I used this recipe with Cattlemen's Carolina Gold bbq sauce. I also made potatoes in my other crock pot. It was good, if I do say so myself.
Feb 4- I didn’t watch the Superbowl, so I didn’t see the coke commercial everyone is talking about. I watched it on YouTube. I think it’s lovely. I don’t understand the hate. I really don’t.
Feb 1- Two days ago it was 14 degrees. Today I’m running my air conditioner.
- I just saw Justin Timberlake’s Mirrors video for the first time. It was not what I expected it to be. I thought it was a typical boy loses girl song, you know?
It made me cry- it reminds me of my grandparents. They are 82 and 83 years old. They both moved into a nursing home this year. She has alzheimer’s and doesn’t recognize him most of the time. She’ll say things like “You’re not my husband. Where is my husband?!” She remembers him as he was when he was younger. After seeing the video, I can see how the song relates to both of them- from their points of view.
So, yes…. that video was very emotional and sad to me.
Jan 29- Second day of being “snowed in” (iced in is more accurate). Hopefully tomorrow things will start to thaw. The news today said we might more ice and snow next week! Crazy. I’m so sleepy…in fact I think my brain went to sleep a few hours ago. lol I was reading over some things I typed earlier and found a few cringe-worthy typos. lol It’s only 8:30, but I’m going to sleep.
Jan 28- It snowed again today, but it was more ice than snow this time. Everything is white and frozen. The roads by my house are still covered in ice. The kids didn’t want to go out in it this time, so we spent the day inside. We had a nice day, but now I’m bored….and that’s something I rarely say. lol It’s only supposed to get into the low 40s tomorrow, so it will probably stay frozen again all day. I don’t mind this weather at all, but I’d probably have a different opinion if I had to go out in it.
Jan 27- I just put a Mississippi roast in the crock pot for tomorrow. It's going to be so good! I love crockpot cooking- it's so easy.
Jan 23- It's snowing! Sort of. It's mixed with sleet, and it's not sticking.
Jan 17- My weekend: laundry, Downton Abbey, stitching, Netflix, reading, and not leaving the house at all
Except for the laundry, that’s my idea of a good time.
Jan 10- I can't believe I have my a/c on, and it was 20 degrees just two days ago.
Dec 30- Thank you for all the birthday wishes… I had a nice day, and received some nice gifts.
The best gift is that we are all finally over the flu! We were sick for a whole month. Not all at once, but one or two of us at a time. It’s finally over. Thank God!
For those of you want more details, here is a list of my gifts ;)
- 3 Barnes & Noble leather bound classics (from my husband)
- He also took me out to eat at our favorite restaurant
- pajamas & a very nice yarn basket (from my mom)
- 2 butterfly paintings (from my daughter)
- The Lord of the Rings omnibus- gray suede-it’s lovely (from myself)
Dec 28- I think we're finally over the flu! L. still has a small cough, but the rest of us are better. Thank God! I'm so glad it's over!
- My waterproof Kindle case came in today! Safe bathtub reading here I come!
Dec 26- I just ordered books! I don’t know what it is about new books that makes me giddy. It’s a feeling like no other. :)
I ordered three of Barnes & Noble’s Collectible Editions; H.P. Lovecraft, Sherlock Holmes, and Edgar Allan Poe. I can’t wait to get them!
Dec 25- Merry Christmas to all my friends and family!
Dec 24- I’m spending Xmas eve at home with two sick children while my husband and older kids go to my FIL’s house.
We are opening stockings early, drinking homemade hot cocoa, and watching Xmas shows. Currently: Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer (I don’t like it, but they do); then one of my favorites, The Polar Express.
Merry Christmas Eve to all of you….may your holidays be happy, fulfilling, and anxiety free!
Dec 21- My Christmas stress has significantly lessened… because of a change of plans. I am having a relaxing, cozy evening with my children. We are currently watching The Chipmunks’ Christmas while listening to the rain pouring outside.
I love storms, and I love this one even more because it’s a cold front coming in. I’ve had enough of 70-80 degree temps. It’s not right to have to run the a/c during winter.
My next potentially stressful event isn’t until the 24th. I plan on being a hermit until then, and not thinking about it at all.
Dec 20- I think a lot of people don't understand what "freedom of speech" means.
Dec 19- 1. I'm finished xmas shopping!!! 2. We saw The Hobbit 2 today- very good. 3. L. is getting sick now. 4. I HATE this weather. Come back cold! I'm so hot!
Dec 15- Before this year, it had been a few years since I took all my ornaments out of the attic. While I was going through the box, I took pictures of some of the older ones. They are getting fragile, so I wanted to have a photo of them in case they don’t survive much longer. There are stories connected to almost every one of them. I know ornaments seem like such a trivial thing, but when I decorate my tree, they ensure that I remember all of the people we loved, but are now gone. In that small way, a part of them is still with us.
- I bought an electric throw blanket. Best. Thing. Ever. #merrychristmastome
Dec 11- I brought Henry for his last puppy shots today. He weighs 5 lbs already! I tried to take a picture, but he won't keep still. He is one hyper puppy. lol
- Nails, spears shall pierce Him through the cross be borne for me, for you. Hail hail the Word made flesh the babe, the son of Mary.
Dec 9-
Random Ramblings
I wasn’t going to write this, but I need to vent a little…..
* I’ve had the stomach flu since Thursday. I’m so tired of being sick! I must have a low immune system because it seems like I’m always sick, and when I catch something it hangs on longer than it does for most people. Sigh.
* My oldest son has a bad cough, but he’s improving. I’m watching him carefully. I don’t want it to turn into something worse.
* WHY does flu season have to coincide with the holiday season?
* I’m not even half finished with my Christmas shopping, and that is stressing me out. I’m usually finished before the end of November. This sickness has thrown a wrench in ALL my pre-Xmas plans. Oh, well. What can ya do?
/end whining
* I’m very thankful the rest of my family hasn’t caught this.
* I’m thankful for my daughter for taking care of me and helping around the house while I’ve been sick.
* I’m thankful for my husband who cooked, cleaned, and did all the laundry this weekend.
*Last week I put up my big Christmas tree for the first time in 3 or 4 years. It was fun going through all my ornaments. I took pictures of some of the oldest ones. I’ll post them when I get a chance.
* I noticed that because I didn’t put up a big tree for a few years, I have a good amount of ornaments for my oldest children, but not many for the youngest. I have to make up for that this year.
* Criminal Minds isn’t an easy show to binge watch.
There.
I feel better after getting all that out. It’s been rattling around in my brain for awhile. lol I apologize if this post is a bit negative Sometimes you just have to let it out.
