{TH}read

{Th}read: a bit of threading + a bit of reading = a crafty, well-read community
I love the idea of this community.  I hope it takes off!
This will be replacing my weekly "Crafty Update".

I am currently reading Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror by Chris Priestly.  It's very good.  It is comprised of short "tales of terror."  So far everyone has been unpredictable and deliciously creepy!
I just finished Hold Tight by Harlan Coben. It was the first I've read by this author.
It was a page turner.  It was also "clean", which is a plus in my book.
I don't like books that are too graphic.  I will probably read more by this author in the future.
I finished my "Nevermore" cross stitch this week.
I started it a few months ago, but barely touched it until last week.
All together, it took about two weeks to finish.
You can find the pattern here. (It's free).
Now my main goal is finishing my poppy cross-stitch.
I have to admit, I'm not really enjoying it at the moment.
There's a lot of back stitching that is kind of complicated.  It gives me a headache.

When I get tired of working on it, I pick up my Summer Sampler.
I know I won't finish the sampler before the end of this summer, so it's really no hurry.
I just work on it whenever I feel like it.

I did some craft shopping this weekend.
Hobby Lobby had a sale on their needlework kits and supplies (30% off!).
Some of this is for me, and some is for my daughter.
I think we are all set for winter stitching.  :)
In case you're wondering, those little boxes are magnetic needle holders.

I love my new pin cushion!  It has a place to hold my scissors too.  Just what I needed. :)

I can't sew, but my mom does.  I asked her to make a Q-Snap Huggie for me.  This is her creation.
It works great, but the project I'm working on has too much excess fabric to fit into it.
My daughter is currently using it.  As you can see, it works just fine with a hoop even though it is made for a square.
Until Next Time...

  3. Love your cross-stitch. I used to do it years ago and always enjoyed it. Such a cute pin cushion! Never seen one that can also hold scissors.
