The Simple Woman's Daybook

Back when I had my Xanga blog in the early to mid 2000s, I used this meme every week.
I decided to see if it was still in existence.  It is!   The owner will also soon be opening another community called (Th)read, which will be about reading and sewing!  Y'all know I'm all about reading and threading. ;)  I can't wait!  I hope cross stitch and embroidery is included.

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...   After a few days of insomnia, I had a wonderful night's sleep last night.  BUT I am up very early.  It's 4:30 a.m.  There's not much to see out my window at the moment.

I am thinking...  about what I need to get done today. My priority is cleaning bathrooms, floors, and kitchen. I also need to get my school planner binder put together before tomorrow.

I am thankful...  to be feeling better after a week of ickiness and insomnia.  I'm also thankful that I'm better in time for the start of our new school year which starts tomorrow.  Yay!  This summer has become quite boring for me.  The kids aren't ready, but when are kids ever ready for school?  lol

In the kitchen...  nothing at the moment (4 a.m., remember? ;))  This week I plan to make taco salads, breakfast-for-supper, chicken spaghetti (big batch so we'll have left-overs), and baked chicken and veggies.

I am wearing...  pajamas-  brown yoga pants and one of my husband's t-shirts.  Classy, no?

I am creating... a cross-stitch quote from Poe's "The Raven."  I laid the summer sampler aside for now.  When I'm done with the Raven,  I will finish my poppy one, and then start on a Christmas sampler.
I'm not sure which pattern I'm going to use.  I'm still on the look-out for a good one.  I found one I love, Santa's Village, but it's sold individually.  It's $6 for each house, which isn't too bad, but it's a BIG sampler so it adds up.

I am going... hopefully I won't have to go anywhere this week.  I plan on staying home as much as possible to get used to our new back-to-school routine.  I might take the kids to the movies later in the week.  I promised the youngest I'd take him to see The Smurfs 2.

I am wondering...

I am reading... Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror by Chris Priestly and Hold Tight by Harlan Cobin.  Hold Tight was my paperback book for last month.  I only have about 50 pages left in it.  I usually read only e-books, but I keep a paperback for reading in the bath tub.

I am hoping... that things go smoothly this week.

I am looking forward to... getting back to a regular routine.  Summer has been very laid back with no rhyme or reason.  I need routine.  I need schedules and lists.  I don't stick to them very strictly, but if I don't have a general plan, I tend to just spin my wheels.

I am learning...

Around the house...  My house is a wreck at the moment.  It's amazing how quickly it can get messy when I'm not feeling well.  I plan on getting things in better shape later today.  My daughter is trying to earn money for a game, so she recently cleaned out my pantry and yesterday she cleaned the tub/shower.  At least those two areas are clean.  :)

I am pondering...

A favorite quote for today...  "Fear does not stop death, it stops life." ~ unknown

One of my favorite things...   at the moment my favorite things are my Q-Snaps and my DMC Stitchbow Travel Bag.  I love craft organization!  I particularly love bags that organized your supplies and allow you to travel with them.

A few plans for the rest of the week:   As I said before, getting back into a regular routine.  That includes daily cleaning/chore schedule for everyone, menu planning, and school schedules.

A peek into my day...  This is where we're supposed to share a photo.  I wanted to do a "Photo Friday" post, but because I was ill most of the week I only managed to take two photos.  I'm going to share them here instead of doing a separate post.

This is how I spent most of my week.  Lots of tea, cross-stitching, and recovering on the sofa.

Wednesday I made vegetable fajitas.  They would have been good, but I did not like this fajita seasoning.  I think next time I will try to make my own.  Any suggestions??

  1. Another "old timer" who's been blogging since the dark ages! I started blogging back in 2001 and have had several blog lives since then. Unbelievable how it's changed, isn't it?
